Patty’s Story

You only had to meet my mom once to know what a special lady she was. She was everyone’s mom and everyone’s best friend. She just had this energy you wanted to be around.

She dedicated 38yrs of her life to Belleville General Hospital where she worked as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room.

My mom had been blessed with 67yrs of good health prior to her becoming ill- she had no risk factors- she was a non-smoker, followed a healthy diet and worked out at the gym 2-3 times a week.

When she began to experience some pain in her upper right abdomen we thought it was likely gallstones. Unfortunately after an abnormal abdominal ultrasound a CT scan was ordered which comfirmed the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 adenocarcinoma of the pancreas on January 4, 2011. The tumor had already wrapped itself around vital veins and arteries and had metastasized to her liver- it was too late…
My mom fought with everything she had but passed away very suddenly a mere 3 months later on April 5 2011. Our family chain is broken and nothing is the same because of pancreatic cancer…
